Annual Entrepreneurship Event of SPJIMR-Mumbai Draws Top Corporate & B-School Students

SPJIMR and NEN conducted LOCK, STOCK & TRADE (LST), their annual day-long entrepreneurship event, at SPJIMR's campus in Andheri. LST is an entrepreneurship event which aims to inspire the youth. At LST the audience learns about
various business opportunities from successful entrepreneurs, and also try their hands at a simulated trading game. The participation from corporates and reputed B-schools has made this event extremely popular.

Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan, CEO of Rediff.com, addressed the gathering and had a lot to share with the budding entrepreneurs. "To be a successful entrepreneur today, you need to think big, act quickly, and innovate using high end technology," said Mr. Balakrishnan. He believed that the youth of today is capable of building a bigger and better India.

"This is one of the most memorable and excellent events I have participated in. The coordination of students at SPJIMR was excellent, and the concept of LST is quite good," said Tejal Raut of NEN, Mumbai.

At LST, SPJIMR student teams presented successful private companies' profiles to the audience and then the companies were open for trading to the audience posing as investors. At the end of the day, the company with the highest market capitalization was declared the winner, and the winning investors were the ones with the highest portfolio value. This is one of the few Mock-Trading events held in India.

This year, the winners have been as follows: -

  • Jury Award for Best Global Team - MobMe Wireless Solutions Pvt. Ltd., S. P. Jain, Dubai

  • Best Overall Team - PayTronic Network Pvt. Ltd.

  • Best Team in Track 1 - Lithos Acoustics

  • Best Team in Track 2 - PayTronic Network Pvt. Ltd.

  • Best Team in Track 3 - Sumanson Pvt. Ltd.

  • Investor with Highest Portfolio Value - Amrut Dash, SPJIMR-Mumbai, Batch 2008-10

  • Team with Highest Market Capitalisation - Sams Fruit Products Pvt. Ltd.
