3. Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise

Q. Was Group Discussion or Group Exercise part of selection process?
A. Group Discussion was there for IIM Shillong. All others had different approach.

Q. What was the topic of your Group Discussion?
A. It was a case study related to shoe industry.

Q. The duration of Group Discussion, Size of the Group, Number of Panelists, etc.
A. 8 members, 15 minutes, 4 panelists.

Q. Were there any set norms for Group Discussion?
A. 2 minutes were given to read the case, then 10 minutes were alotted to discuss it with the other members, and then there was writing a summary in 3 minutes.

Q. Do write a brief about your Group Discussion experience.
A. Group Discussion was pretty good, it wasn't a fish-market, and I was able to give it a kick. As it was case study approach, it was more logical, and everybody got the time to speak. Finally, we did arrive at a consensus.

Q. How was the environment during Group Discussion?
A. It was not a heated one. Earlier, it was a bit chaotic, and the situation did go out of control a bit, but it changed to more amicable one as discussion progressed.

Q. Describe your impression of your team members and overall Group Discussion Process?
A. It was pretty professional, infact unlike my other experiences and team mates, this one made a lot of sense.

Q. How would you rate your performance in Group Discussion?
A. I guess my GD was better than my Interview which got me in.

Q. Areas where you could have performed better in your Group Discussion?
A. Summary, I believe. I could have made it more structured.

Q. Give some handy tips regarding Group Discussion or Group Exercise that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.
A. As it was case study, do try to make a logical chart before entering. Be fast in reading and comprehending the case, also try to be one of the first three speakers.
