In spite of the economic recession, the Institute of Rural Management, Anand, has achieved the distinction of placing its batch of 100 students in a short span of time. Beating all expectations of a dismal placement season, IRMA effortlessly placed its students in a wide variety of organizations cutting across different sectors.
The placements at IRMA this year saw the participation of number of international organizations in addition to the usual participants. 64 organizations expressed interest of participation and 243 seats were offered to the students. Of these, 28 organizations were invited on the Placement Day.
This year’s placement at IRMA also saw the participation of a number of international organizations such as Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Govt. of Switzerland, International Food Policy Research Institute – Washington DC, Winrock India International, Arkansas, USA and Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association, Bremen, Germany.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India and various other government departments of different states participated in a big way this year. The Rural Development Department of Andhra Pradesh (EGMM), the Gujarat State Watershed Management Agency and the Development Support Agency of Gujarat DSAG) recruited students. The Government of Bihar also turned up with vacancies for their Disaster Relief management for the Kosi Flood victims.
Amongst the public sector organizations, Bank of Baroda, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), National Housing Bank Union Bank of India, Union Bank, Vijaya Bank and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) turned up with vacancies.
SKS, Spandana and Share Microfinance were the major microfinance recruiters while Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, National Dairy Development Board, Banaskhanta Dairy, Paras Dairy and Mother Dairy were the major recruiters from the Dairy sector.
As is the usual norm in IRMA, this year too around 10 students joined the NGO sector. SURE, Democracy Connect, Foundation for Ecological Security, Naandi Foundation, Deepak Foundation, Drishtee Foundation and Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad were able to attract students this year.
Zero Mass Foundation, FINO and Hole in the Wall Education Ltd. (a joint initiative of NIIT Ltd. and the International Finance Corporation) also recruited a sizable number of students.
The highest salary this year was Rs. 9 lakhs while the average salary was Rs. 5.63 lakhs.

The average compensation package mentioned in the report is 5.63 lakhs/annum, many other sources have quoted it as 4.63 lakhs/annum. Request you to kindly look into the matter and correct the same.
The average compensation is 5.63 l.p.a and where it is given that it is 4.63 l.pa………..the entire batch was placed in two days and after the placement week is over some organisations like BOB and Paras dairy came to the campus to recruit the students…………so 5.63 l.p.a is the revised official average salary and the actual figure is higher ( some students are approached by non designated organisation like a soft drink giant but it will not be considered in the calculation of average salary)……….

hi parakshit…………if u r relying on some news report which doesn’t have any authenticity ( in the news paper it is written that GCMMF (Amul recruited 14 studenst while they actually recruited 21 and NDDB recruited 23 studenst overall) I cannot help it……….The information given by the director (as quoted in the website) was of feb 8th and the minimum salary as quoted in the website is totally wrong ( it is 3 l.p.a and that organisation was chosen by to students voluntarily eventhough they were selected by NDDB)…………Even this week we are approached by some well paying donor agencies and Research institutes……………..During the placement week itself HDFC genreal Insurance, a reputed marketing research agency and international news agency offering fatty packages approached institute but they were denied designation by the institute ( In IRMA only designated organisations are allowed to participate in placements)……………If they had been allowed the average salary would be more than 8 lpa for sure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Dear Vivek,
For your kind information “Ahmedabad Mirror” is one of the publication from Bennett, Coleman Co., Ltd, the same company which publishes The Times of India. So you should correct your comment on the authenticity of the news report .
And regarding the differences in the news reports being published differently by different newspaper your college (if you are from IRMA) should have made sure that the same press release should have reached media.
Public out is least concerned about the way you have calculated the Average package (by including some low paying companies in the calculation & excluding some high paying companies).
“If some companies would have been allowed and if some would not have been allowed then our package would have been something something.”
If ‘ifs and buts’ were ‘pots and pants’ there would be no tinkers!
Hello Parikshit
Just a comment of Ahmedabad Mirror and that is TOI has a paer has lost its respect years ago is today known more as a taboloid which publishes only paid news or bikini clad girls. So dont rely on them too much
Dear Parakshit,
I understood your outrage and now I realize that you are a student of some second rung B school who still finds it very difficult to be placed somewhere……I was just reproducing the facts that I know very well of and believe me I am not here for publicity stunt for my coleges (If u know something abt IRMA u will realise that we are least concerned abt it)………I don’t need to unnecessrily debate with you about our salary, brand name and placement news (u r so ignorant abt it)……………..y u r getting so agitated unnecessarily…..I am not asking u to come and try 4 IRMA ……….About the reliability of Ahmedabad mirror and times of india go and ask IIM A guys about how they forged the placement facts this year and how they published things with out verifying the facts………………For ur kind information IRMA has not given any press release to either times of india or its sister concerns…………………….All the best for ur placements……………….
.
Also I don’t think that u alone constitute public….better retract ur statement
Dear Vivek,
I am not agitated at all about you and your college having good placements. In-fact I wish to congratulate you and your college for the great success that you have achieved in spite of economic slowdown.
It was just differences in the news item that are published across the media… that had given rise to my initial query of either 4.63 lpa or 5.63 lpa. My query didn’t required more than 1 line answer but instead you satisfied your fingers quest of tying more. You seem to be in too much high spirits that you took my simple query as a disrespect to you and your institute. I would again say that i dint mean to demean you and your institute in any way in what so ever you thought.
You being a representative of IRMA should have used small amount of respect toward other being rather than being snobbish.
And finally regarding me and my institute, we also have achieved the same feet as your college but we welcome query from others and answer them in very courteous way.
Good bye and best of luck to you.
Thanks Gyan for giving me information about the Ahemdabad Mirror.
then after giving me so much gyan why are you shying away from naming your institute??
or you feel that urs is a third rung institute when compared to IRMA…………..It seems that u r a student of some forest management institute ( cleverly guessing) ……….also i would suggest don’t teach us how to respect others ( the respectable would get due respect from us) ……………If ur institute could place all the students then it is well and good……….I congratulate u and ur institute for that accomplishment…………
Hi, Vivek and Parikshit,
HEHE
Clash of egos!!!
Waise nice reply Vivek…………..
Dear Vivek,
From the start of our conversation, i m not able to understand why are you so angry… yes you have full rights to be angry i am not questioning your right…
Yes you guessed right i am from IIFM, Bhopal… but no credit to you for guessing that as it was just common sense that was required on your part and not “clever guessing”…
I will say a final goodbye and best of luck to you… I know that after this you will become more angrier and will resort to saying something crab-by….
It was nice interacting with you… got to know about some more aspect of human behavior
“Fighting with you is like fighting with a pig in the mud. Whether you win or lose you find that the pig is actually enjoying it”
Correction in the above statement: ”
Fighting with you is like fighting with a pig in the mud. Whether I win or lose I find that the pig is actually enjoying it”
Hi Parikshit,
oh…………u r not so keen on fighting with humans…………..ur past experience of fighting with some wild boars in the forests ( as a part of your field work) surely had an impact on u and u started mistaking management graduates from niche institutes as wild boars and pigs………….It is your culture that is unveiling from your writings…………….you are filthier than those wild boars…..Finally a big congrats for placing all the students of ur forest management institute despite its increased batch size ( wow a strong batch of 61 students placed in 3 months while we completed our placement process (100 students) in 3 days)……….I also know the reason behind ur anger towards IRMA………..Most of the organisations(read SKS,IMRB etc) deserted ur college for coming to IRMA this time………………..I also understood why you have no interest in the average salary calculation of IRMA ( since IIFM always takes into account their so called foreign placement ( some organisation based in Africa) and converts it into Indian currency figure and shows it in the average salary calculation)…………….We don’t manipulate with average figures baba……………….Finally I would leave a word for you………….I don’t want to call you any derrogatory names ( means not reciprocating in the same tone)………..That is what our institute teaches us……….Show respect towards others ( irrespective whether it is an IIM guy or a forest management guy)……………..I would suggest that you introspect ur self and try for bettering urself rather than advising others how to behave respectfully……….it is just to remind you that you have started this tussle by using some offensive comments like
If ‘ifs and buts’ were ‘pots and pants’ there would be no tinkers! (refer the fifth comment) when I was explaining about our placement process in our own thread…………Unlike you, I feel that interaction with you was not nice and I wish in future that I could avoid interacting with guys like you who feels like a frog in the well
and thinking that you are at the top of the world………….
Good bye………..VIVEK
and ur correction doesn’t work baba……….U r comparing urself to pig……….At last u reached the stage of self realisation after studying two years in IIFM………………..very good
Bahut Pyara…
Vivek i think dat dere is no point in arguing wid dis guy furthur, wen he is not even ready 2 listen 2 d facts
We believe in d principle of ‘Good for all’ and wishes all d very Best to d whole ‘Management Fraternity’
Hiiiii Vivek , this is Hemant and i want to know more about IRMA , actually i am an engineer in Anand and i want to do my MBA from IRMA with some work experience, so after your response on that cooment i will put my query…………………
Parikshit & Vivek…..thanks guys. your fight was complete enjoyabale from the starting. Keep fighting. please donot stop.
Never thought i will witness this sort of fight.I was selected in Both IIFM and IRMA,years back. Many of your seniors from these institutes, are my colleagues, and team, members.Article in Indian Express came on February 12, 09,just a day after the 2nd day of placements were over.It was indicative, and not final,it was not official release by IRMA…If you go to IRMA website and click on Mandatory Disclosure, you will get past years placement details, and this years, but it is still to be updated.
dear vivek,
check the admission notification,it is out and it clearly states that the avg. package last year was 4.63 lpa,so vivek i think its time for you to say sorry and eat your words,if you have any teeth left because a fighter like you who picks fight over trivial issues is sure to have lost quite a lot of them
