Ph.D. Programme in International Business
(Batch 2006)

IIFT invites applications from post-graduates of any discipline for admission to Ph.D. Programme in International Business. Specific areas offered are: Marketing, Business Strategy, Finance, WTO Issues and Logistics & Trade Operations. Admission to the programme is open to all those not more than 35 years as on 1st July 2006 and wishing to pursue an academic career and developing the field of business education. Foreign Nationals are encouraged to apply; however, necessary clearances will have to be obtained from the Government of India.
The selection of applicants is based on evidence of a high level of scholarly ability, involving both qualitative and quantitative skills; the motivation to complete a strenuous academic programme; and career objectives consistent with the Ph.D. degree.

Reservations for SC/ST/PH candidates will apply as per Government of India rules.

The programme is available both on full-time and part-time basis. Full-time students will be expected to involve themselves in the Institute's training and research activities and will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000/- p.a. for the same. On-campus accommodation, if available, may be provided to full-time students.

The programme consists of two phases: -

  • Post Graduate Studies or the course work of 12-16 months duration; and

  • Thesis-writing (to be completed within 4 years of completion of course work).

    Students must obtain the required grades at every stage to continue in the Ph.D. programme.

    Application Requirements

  • A Master's degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks.

  • Admissions Application Form - This can be downloaded from the IIFT's website www.iift.edu together with 2 passport size photographs and copy of educational degrees obtained.

  • Two letters of recommendation (in the format that may be downloaded from the IIFT's website www.iift.edu).

  • At least one example of scholarly research or professional writing.
