INDIAN INSTITUTE OF CAPITAL MARKETS
One-Year Full-Time The Institute Indian capital market experienced rapid progress and reform in the late 1980s. Qualified and knowledgeable professionals in the Indian capital market were in short supply. There was also a felt need to upgrade the knowledge base of the entire market. The erstwhile Unit Trust of India (UTI) sought to fill this gap by establishing an institute that could address these gaps and contribute to the orderly development of the markets. The UTI Institute of Capital Markets (UTI ICM) came into being as part of UTI in the sprawling, modern, new millennium city, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Subsequently, the name of the Institute was changed to Indian Institute of Capital Markets reflecting its changed profile in its quest to become an institute of national importance. The Programme The thrust of the One-Year Full-Time Securities Markets Programme (SMP) is to prepare a cadre of professionals primarily for careers in the securities markets. SMP inputs are designed to: - Abstract the building blocks of the securities markets, understand them conceptually, and develop a capability to design the solutions that meets specific requirements. Develop skill sets necessary to perform the key technical activities in the securities markets. USPs of Securities Markets Programme SMP fills an imperative industry need for professional training that is not met by MBA Finance programs. Students learn to employ financial economics, mathematics and computer modeling skills to make pricing, hedging, trading, risk management, project evaluation and portfolio management decisions. The small batch size of the program encourages students to learn from each other and develop team players with strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Organizations will have to invest fewer resources on training SMP graduates. SMP graduates are exposed to Interactive Interface in order to get hands-on experiences by way of Specialized Tailor-made Sessions by the industry practitioners. SMP graduates are ready to contribute immediately in the areas of valuation, pricing, hedging, trading, management, project evaluation, strategic planning and portfolio management decisions. Eligibility Criteria The applicants of the programme should possess: -
