Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

About the Programme

The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) at IIM Indore is a unique doctoral programme in management, designed to provide both breadth and depth of knowledge to doctoral participants. The prime objective of the programme centers on creating competence in teaching and research in
management education, and practice. The programme equips the participants for careers in teaching, training, research, and consulting, both in academia and industry. The programme is application oriented in nature, and the participants will be able to contribute to management thinking.

The Fellow Programme takes 4 to 5 years to complete, including 2 years of rigorous course work followed by research work leading to a thesis. While the first year of course work is common with IIMI's Post Graduate Programme, the second year involves advanced doctoral level courses in the chosen area of specialization. In addition, after the first year of course work, participant will have an opportunity to get exposure to the real business world through a summer project. After completing the course work, the participant has to pass a comprehensive qualifying examination, written and oral. On successful completion of course work, the participant is required to undertake a research work leading to a thesis. The participant is required to write a research proposal under the guidance of the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) and has to make a public defense. Subsequently, the participant has to pursue research under the supervision of TAC. The Thesis Examination Committee consisting of internal and external experts will evaluate the thesis. Finally, the participant has to make a public defense of his/her research work and qualify the viva-voce examination.

Admission Procedure

While candidates are encouraged to submit Test Scores from Common Admission Test (CAT) of IIMs or GMAT / GRE / GATE or UGC / CSIR - JRF (Research), candidates without any test scores may also apply. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview (including a written component testing research aptitude) at Indore. Selection will be based on test scores from CAT / GMAT / GRE / GATE / JRF (where applicable), performance in the interview, and other criteria.

Candidates who have appeared in CAT 2008 but have not opted for FPM of IIM Indore in the CAT 2008 Application Form may also apply by attaching the following signed undertaking with the FPM Application Form: "I hereby accept the responsibility of delivering an attested photocopy of my CAT Scorecard corresponding to CAT 2008 TR No. __________ within 15 days of publication of CAT 2008 results, to FPM Office, IIM Indore."

Fellowships

The fellowship covers all academic and living expenses. In addition, all FPM participants resident in India are likely to get a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000/- (per month) during the first two years, and Rs. 20,000/- during the next two years (subject to approval).
