Admission to Ph.D. Programme

Introduction

The primary objective of the programme is to prepare young men and women for challenging opportunities in teaching, research, and consulting. The programme is designed to impart knowledge, develop skills, and create attitudes relevant to teaching, research and consulting. The programme requires coursework in general management as well as in the area of specialization,
followed by a doctoral level dissertation. In addition to the Institute faculty, resource persons are also drawn from reputed business schools in India and abroad.

Eligibility

Those aspiring to be admitted in the Ph.D. programme must hold a master's degree or equivalent (such as PGDM) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for final examination can also apply, provided they satisfy the eligibility requirement by June 30, 2009.

Prospective candidates are required to fill in the application form. To obtain the application form and prospectus, applicants should send a request along with a demand draft for Rs. 1000/- favouring Institute of Management, Nirma University payable at Ahmedabad, addressed to:

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure for admission consists of two steps :

Written Test: Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their applications and supporting documents and those who are eligible will be called for a written test. The written test will be held at Ahmedabad. The test consists of the following four sections:

Each section consists of 30 questions. The total of 120 questions are to be attended within two hours. Negative marks will be assigned for wrong/incorrect answer. The test will be objective type with multiple choice items.

Personal Interview: Candidates short-listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for personal interview on the same day written test itself.

The final selection to the programme would be based on the candidate’s performance in the written test and personal interview. The personal interviews are normally held only at Ahmedabad.

Important Dates

Doctoral Students will be provided a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- per month in the first year and second year and Rs. 14,000/- from the third year onwards (likely to be revised). The stipend will be renewed every year upto a maximum of four years subject to satisfactory performance of the student.
