Admission Procedure

About 120 candidates are admitted to the PGSM every year. There are two kinds of seats in the program. The first type of seats are open seats. Any candidate who meets the admission requirements can apply for these seats. The other type are those that have been earmarked for employees of the companies, known as partner companies, that have provided endowment to the Centre for Software and Information Technology Management. Candidates who apply for these seats have to meet the admission requirements and be nominated by one of the partner companies. All candidates have to follow the same procedures for admission and fees.

Admission Requirements
Participants will be admitted to the program based on a combination of requirements. First, the applicants need to have a graduate degree recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Applicants who have studied outside India need to have an equivalent graduate degree recognized by bodies similar to AIU/AICTE. Second, applicants need to have (or expected to have) a minimum of two years experience in the software industry as on June 10, 2005.

Applicants need to choose one of the two options for selection: -

  • Applicants may take the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted jointly by the IIMs and indicate that they want to apply for the PGSM in the CAT Application Form. The CAT scores will be used in their application process.

  • Applicants may take the GMAT. Applicants who have already taken the test may attach a copy of their GMAT scores along with the application. Applicants who are going to take the test may have the score sent directly to the PGSM Office. The GMAT Code for GMAT is 3904.

Short-listed candidates will be called for an interview at IIMB. At the time of the interview, candidates from partner companies have to produce letters of nomination from their employer. The remaining candidates are required to produce letters of approval from their employers indicating that they are permitted to pursue the program. Final selection will be made based on the prior academic performance, duration and nature of work experience, test scores, and performance in the interview.
