ISB Establishes a Research Chair in Real Estate and Urban Studies
Gets a Grant of US$ 550,000 for the Chair

Previous

Present on the occasion, Mr. Syam Prasad Reddy, Managing Director & CEO of Indu Projects Ltd., felt that the study of real estate was extremely important to the economic development of the state and the nation. He added, "At Indu, we believe in knowledge being a driver of growth but there is a dearth of knowledge in the real estate sector. I found that the ISB is doing a great job in producing a new generation of world-class business leaders in a variety of fields.
I want to support the ISB's efforts by adding a new dimension of real estate."

The ISB will bring a top professor of international stature to lead research, organize conferences / seminars and interface with the academia and the practitioners to debate on key real estate and urban development issues. The Research will provide the much needed knowledge in this field and will also serve as a significant resource for realtors and infrastructure providers.

Prof. V. Chandrasekhar, Executive Director of Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (WCED) at the ISB said, "Driven by positive growth in the economy, real estate in India is booming and showing signs of emerging as one of the fastest growing sectors in the country today. There is a need for systematic planning, objective information and policy formulation to guide the real estate players and support urban development in the country today. I look forward to providing a valuable resource to this sector through the efforts of this Research Chair."

The Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (WCED) is the first Centre of Excellence set up by the ISB. It has been actively supporting entrepreneurs through training, research, mentoring and networking activities and provides opportunities for real time learning through interactions with some of the world's best business leaders. It has successfully conducted various events such as the TiE-ISB Connect 2005, the Global Social venture Competition, K-Hub, among others.

Concluded.
