SPJIMR, Mumbai Launches the India NGO Award 2006 - Western Region
SPJIMR's Centre for Development of Corporate Citizenship - West Zone Screening Partner

Previous

Ms. Amita Kapoor, Sr. Advisor, The Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation, added, "We are very happy that SPJIMR's Centre of Corporate Citizenship (DOCC) is the screening partner for the Western Zone. The DOCC will play a vital role in extending the reach of the Award, thereby enabling local NGOs to build their capacity and facilitate their entries into the Award."

Prof. Nirja Mattoo, Chairperson, Centre for Development of Corporate Citizenship (DOCC), SPJIMR added, "We at DOCC, with our management inputs have always strived to add to the efficiency, effectiveness and structure of the NGO sector processes. An extension to our existing philosophy - the India NGO Award recognises the efforts of all non-profit organisations who work diligently and incessantly towards improving the quality of life of the community."

A sum of Rs. 8 lakhs and a trophy will be awarded to the winner of the India NGO Award 2006. The second prize constitutes a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 4 lakhs while two runners-up prizes - a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 2 lakhs each - will be given away.

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of independent assessors who will then draw up a shortlist of 12 organisations. The final round will see the four organisations short-listed by a panel of three individual judges (corporate sector / McKinsey representative / representative from a NGO each) receive their awards from the Chief Guest.

Concluded.
