About the Event

Intel Higher Education - India in association with National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India has launched DST-Intel India Innovation Pioneers Challenge 2006, an innovative business-plan competition for educational institutions and organizations across India.

DST-Intel India Innovation Pioneers Challenge showcases your potential business opportunities with an opportunity to travel and take your business plan to a global level to UC-Berkeley, USA apart from the cash grants of Rs. 3:0 Lakhs in each category.

About Participants & Entries

Business plans that make integral use of novel technology, such as technologies in the following industry categories, will be chosen to participate: -

  • Manufacturing of electronic systems and hardware - techniques, technologies, etc.

  • Hardware - new systems for instrumentation, control and applications.

  • Communications including rural and group level communications with special emphasis on mobile and wireless systems and devices.

  • Digital home-devices and systems for smart homes, remote control of appliances, etc.

  • Consumer electronic devices with micro devices, better quality and new applications.

  • Technologies and systems for retailing.

  • Applications of IT for agriculture - measurements, implements - water supply, resource conservation, etc.

  • New types of software services and web services.

The scope of technology innovation is not restricted to the above. The technology implemented in the business plan should also address issues like the novelty of the plan, feasibility, utility aspects and its applicability to disadvantaged people, rural areas and to improving the societal lifestyle.

DST-Intel India Innovation Pioneers Challenge 2006 invites entries in the following three categories: -

  • Champion of Champions
    Only winners of business plan competition held in last 2 years are eligible to apply.
    Last date to apply: 30th August 2006
  • Scholar Sparks
    Student teams having technology ideas with potential to become big businesses.
    Last date to apply: 22nd September 2006
  • Wild Cards
    Faculty, young entrepreneurs, scientists and working professionals.
    Last date to apply: 22nd September 2006

    Prizes

    The top 3 teams will be given the following prizes: -

  • 1st Prize - Rs. 3,00,000 (Rs. 3 Lakhs)
  • 2nd Prize - Rs. 1,00,000 (Rs. 1 Lakh)
  • 3rd Prize - Rs. 50,000 (Rs. Fifty Thousand)

    Apart from the cash grants, the winning teams from ‘Champion of Champions’ and ‘Scholar Sparks’ category will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to UC-Berkeley (economy travel, boarding and lodging only) for participating at the Intel-UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge.
