ISB Hyderabad Receives Rs. 35 Crore Grant for Research in IT Sector

The Indian School of Business (ISB) received a generous grant of Rs. 35 Crore for research in the IT sector. The grant was given to the Center for IT & Networked Economy (CITNE) at the ISB by Srini Raju, a leading entrepreneur from Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, M. Rammohan Rao, Dean, ISB, said, "We are grateful for the recognition and support given by Srini Raju. His generous grant will allow us to attract more world-class faculty and students and take CITNE to the next level in IT knowledge creation and dissemination for emerging markets."

Srini Raju, Co-Founder of several companies such as Peepul Capital (a.k.a. iLabs Capital), Satyam Enterprise Solutions, D&B Satyam Software (now known as Cognizant Technology Solutions), said, "I am keen to ensure that the benefits of IT reaches all sections of society. The ISB is doing seminal work in this area and I am proud to associate with their Center of Excellence to make this possible."

The two-year old CITNE is fast emerging as a global research hub that facilitates collaboration between ISB resident and visiting faculty and the Indian IT industry. With a dual emphasis on rigour and relevance, CITNE is currently engaged in collaborative research on topics ranging from 'optimal governance models of outsourcing relationships' to 'improving the efficacy of competency development initiatives by the IT majors' to 'measuring the socio-economic impact of ICT investments in rural India'.

Commenting on the occasion, CITNE’s Founding Executive Director, Prof. Ravi Bapna, said, "This generous grant from a seasoned industry veteran is very encouraging. It helps us to expand our scope, and reach out to people at both ends of the value chain - for leading IT/ITES companies as well as for those at the base of the pyramid."

Within ISB, CITNE works with students and faculty to develop curricular innovations on the strategic analysis of IT investments and host panel discussions on topical issues such as multi-sourcing and convergence. At the executive level, CITNE is pursuing CIO targeted research and education, aimed at helping Indian companies leapfrog the chasm in garnering business value of IT.

Srini Raju - A Profile

Srini Raju is the co-founder of several companies such as Peepul Capital (a.k.a. iLabs Capital), Satyam Enterprise Solutions, D&B Satyam Software (now known as Cognizant Technology Solutions). He served as Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer at Satyam Computer Services Ltd., from 1992 until 2000. Additionally, Raju was the founding Chief Executive Officer & Director at D&B Satyam Software Ltd. (now known as Cognizant Technology Solutions). Raju received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with Honors, from R.E.C. (NIT), Kurukshetra, and a Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Utah State University.
