Dept. of Business Economics, University of Delhi, to Organize its Annual Convention 2008
Theme: "Leveraging Global Change: Managing Turbulence in Indian Economy"
On September 29-30, 2008

The Department of Business Economics, Delhi University, is organising its Annual Convention on the 29th & 30th of September 2008 at the Indian Habitat Centre. Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms. Sheila Dixit have consented to chair the convention.

The convention provides a valuable platform for interaction between students of Master of Business Economics, the flagship programme of DBE and the luminaries' of industry, apex research organisations and Academia. The convention also facilitates eminent personalities of various strata of Commerce & Industry to share their views on the current economic scenario & the role of a Business Analyst.

The theme of this year's convention is "Leveraging Global Change: Managing Turbulence in Indian Economy". The event would have speakers airing their views on 'Indian Economy: Current Trend in a Global Perspective'; 'Resolution to Price Puzzle'; 'Rethinking Marketing Strategies'; 'Business Analytics: A Practioner's View'; 'Redefining Risk Management Strategies', etc.

The session would witness eminent personalities from apex institutions like Ministry of Finance, IMF, SEBI, sharing the dais with high profile speakers from private players like IBM, Tata Capital Fund, ICICI, Virgin Mobile, ITC, Future Logistics.

The 2-day event would kick-off with a discussion on the main theme, with a macro-analysis of the turbulence in Indian economy, speakers would then move to the sub-themes doing a micro-analysis of Indian economy. There would be an attempt to understanding its financial & marketing implication with a discussion on the price puzzle in an inflationary economy and a basic need to re-think the basic validity of marketing strategies.

On Day Two, there would be a focus on understanding and working on the core competency of MBE's Business Analysts' Workshops with a seminar on 'Re-definition of Risk Management Strategies'. The event would also witness the release of the annual issue of "The Business Economist". Last year, the theme of Annual Convention was "India's Growth Trajectory: Momentum from Services", and the session was inaugurated by Mr. M. Damodaran, the then Chairman SEBI. This year the XXXV Annual Convention 2008 of MBE-DU promises to be bigger and better.
