Vikram Srinivas of KPMG Delivers Lecture on Mergers & Acquisitions at IFMR, Chennai

Previous

The last few minutes of his talk were again different from the usual discussions, as Mr. Srinivas thought it was worth to mention the reasons of "Why not to go for an M&A" to the upcoming managers, as students whenever they speak about M&A, feel it's a very easy and
essential thing for every company. But he specifically insisted on the reasons to look out for against going for a merger. The reasons included lack of synergy, integration issues, valuation issues and issues relating to diversification.

All along the discussion, he used various examples to highlight the real life issues he has observed in deals which gave the students a better understanding of things and made the interaction much more interesting.

The lecture ended with a series of questions from the highly interactive students who shared their thoughts and queries with the speaker and made the lecture even more interesting. Mr. Srinivas ended the talk with response to one of the queries of a student's perspective on something by saying that occasions like this give practitioners like him a chance to go back and work on certain inputs they get from the students, and which is quite important and exciting for them as well.

At the end Mr. Navneet from The Hindu - Business Line Club thanked the Speaker, IFMR, its management, administration and the students for this opportunity and continuous support while Prof. Bala Subramaniam, Dean, IFMR, thanked the Speaker and BL Club for its continued support and association with IFMR.

Concluded.
