MDI-Gurgaon Launches Online Students' Portal

The Online Students' Portal of Management Development Institute (MDI, Gurgaon) was launched amidst much fanfare last week by the Director of the institute, Dr. C. V. Baxi, in the august presence of Dean, Prof. Metri, Chairman (PGPM), Prof. Subir Verma, Chairperson (PGPHR), Prof. Bhatnagar, other senior faculty members and students.

The Portal - www.ManDevIan.com - is an initiative of the Students' Council of MDI, and has been completely developed by a team of 3 students of the second year - Rohit Khanna, Vanita and Ram Sharma, with the help of the student community. As the domain name itself suggests, the Portal is aimed at "ManDevIans" - past, present, and to some extent ManDevIans of the future too.

Dr. C. V. Baxi waxed eloquent on this unique initiative, praising the efforts of the Class of 2009. "Break-through can come only if we think about it," said the Director. Prof. Metri spoke of how the portal would serve as a foundation for the future students of this prestigious institute. Prof. Subir Verma added that the Portal would play a very important role in bringing the ManDevIans closer to each other and to their alma mater, which will help MDI scale newer heights in the near future.

ManDevIan.com provides features like WebMail, Discussion Forums, Shout Box, Blogs, Gallery, Calendar and Online Polls, besides providing the latest news from Campus, details of the activities of various student-run Clubs and Events. Rohit Khanna briefed the gathering about the features on offer and handled the queries from the faculty and students.

Summing up the sentiments of the Student Community, Ram Sharma, the General Secretary of Students Council, said, "This portal is our way of saying 'Thank You' to our beloved institution which provides us two of the best years of our lives and memories for a lifetime!"

On a lighter note, he added, "Be it serious stuff like discussion and debate on Academics, or other more serious issues like changes in the Mess Menu, latest buzz on the campus grape-vine or score-cards of keenly contested Football and Cricket Matches between seniors and juniors, ManDevIan.com will be home to all the info that makes our stay at MDI so exciting and memorable. No ManDevIan will ever feel out of touch with his/her alma mater from now on."

The enthusiasm of the Student Community was manifested by the fact that the Portal recorded an astounding 10,000 hits in a matter of few hours besides 400 registrations. This small step by the Class of 2009 at MDI is surely poised to turn into a giant leap for the entire ManDevIan family.
