IIM Ahmedabad Summer Internship Recruitments - 2005 PGP MBA The summer internship recruitment process for the 249 strong batch of 2005-2007 at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) concluded on November 16, 2005. A total of 73 students (profile of complete batch given in Exhibit 1) were placed in Slot Zero, a commendable 52% increase from last year’s 48. This is also the highest for any Indian B-school ever, eclipsing the 60 internships offered to IIM A students in the year 2000. Investment Bank Lehman Brothers and FMCG giant HLL had the maximum number of acceptances at 13. Though a Slot 3 was initially planned, the entire batch was placed at the end of Slot 2. For many premier organizations, IIMA remained the single destination for summer interns this year. "Morgan Stanley, McKinsey, Bain Consulting and Acumen Fund recruited exclusively from IIMA," said Prof P. K. Sinha, the Chairman of the Placement Committee. Slot 1 was equally exciting this year, with as many as 125 students accepting offers from organisations from diverse sectors including finance, marketing, systems and consulting. A total of 86 companies visited campus, including some in sunrise sectors like commodities trading, NGO consulting and government Infrastructure financing. (The list of new companies added this year is provided in Exhibit 2.) Also, a number of regular recruiters like the Tata Group, ICICI, MetLife and P&G offered international positions for summer interns. "The fact that a prominent investment bank offered international positions, despite being able to start its recruitment only on Slot Two when 80% of the batch was already placed speaks volumes about the batch’s depth and diversity," said Rajiv Subramanian, the Placement Coordinator.
