Cairn India, Gurgaon Police and Delhi Public School Join Hands to Promote "Road Safety" Programme

Previous

Motivating the young and enthusiastic students of the school Mr. Alok Kumar Mittal, Jt. Commissioner, Guragon Police further added, "India is known to have the most unsafe roads in the world.

With a road fatility rate of over 1 lakh in a year there is an urgent requirement for every individual to become safety conscious. "Come Home Safely" campaign is a roadmap to achieve safety on roads and it can be a big success if the young brigade takes the responsibility of implementing and spreading road safety awareness".

Addressing the school children Mr. Colin MacIntyre, Director HSE, Cairn India said,"We are delighted to launch the first phase of "Come Home Safely" campaign in association with Gurgaon Police and Delhi Public School today. Road Safety is at the heart of Cairn India and we are all very passionate about it. Our aim is to create Change Agents within the environment who are young, enthusiastic, full of energy and vigour to take on the message of "Road Safety" in the society as its brand ambassador.

As part of the campaign the children were put through an interesting presentation, ’Come Home Safely' targeting teenage attitudes by Cairn India.  Children who had actually undergone accidents described their experiences of accidents and helped as a sober reminder to the hazards of recklessness.

The aim is to create awareness about road safety and inculcate a culture of returning home safely amongst teenagers in schools, who comprise the highly vulnerable group of road users.

Wrist bands with the message ’Come Home Safely' were distributed among the children. Another highlight of the programme was signing of the road safety pledge by the children promising a behavioural change each. The board will be displayed in the school as a permanent reminder to change behaviours.

Concluded.
