    Respect Experience & Not Age
Our traditions teach us to respect elders, this is a quality which most of us who have grown up on traditional values would have imbibed. Respecting elders is a great Indian value - it helps maintain our family, cultural and social fabric. Most of us carry the values of the home to the workplace. So respecting elders is naturally translated into respecting older people and anybody who has put in the most number of years in the organization. In most sectors nowadays, being older and having spent many years doing the same job is no more reason to draw respect. You need to be able to differentiate between Experience and Age in the organization. Experience is imbibed by the breadth and depth of activities and learning gained by an individual during ones work life. You will be able to notice the difference as you meet and interact with people. If it is just an Older person or somebody who has put in more number of years you encounter at work, it is time you define a demanding professional relationship. Here again the reader has to take care in differentiating between professional and personal issues. At a personal level if you still hold onto the value of respecting elders it may help you gain more acceptability anywhere.

    Network Tirelessly
Before you can tap opportunities, you need to know that opportunities exist, that information can come to you only if you know enough number of people whom you can connect with. Networking today is one of the most highly valued skills among professionals. Gone are the days of the socialist era, when knowing people in right places was often seen with a sense of guilt, today most corporates, would offer a premium for a correctly networked individual. There are corporates who conduct training programs to improve the networking skills of its managers. If you plan to be an entrepreneur, this could be your lifeline.
