4.2 DEMOGRAPHICS

4.2.1 Age

The mean average age of MBA Applicants remains stable, with slightly more applicants in the central age bracket of 20-30.

The mean average age of respondents stayed constant at 26.8 (26.5) years ((28 years)). There were small alterations in the overall spread of ages: only 1% (2%) of respondents were younger than 20, but this year, 25% (19%) ((28%)) of respondents were over 30.

Western European MBA applicants tend to be slightly older than applicants in other regions with a mean average age of 28.8 followed by Latin America at 27.8. The mean average age in the Middle East & Africa is 27.3, US & Canada 27%, Central Europe 26.5% and Asia 25.9%.

4.2.2 Gender of MBA Applicants

Globally, men outnumbered women, in line with the typical proportions of those actually studying at business school, however the results reflect a clear and consistent trend towards more women applicants with: 65% (67%) ((69%)) male respondents and 35% (33%) ((31%)) female respondents.

But, more women than ever before are considering an MBA. In eight countries the number of women completing the survey now equals or exceeds the number of men: Bulgaria 68%, China 56%, Hong Kong 68%, Russia 50%, Taiwan 59%, Thailand within 5% of parity with men in: Canada 48%, Hungary 49%, and Vietnam 46.67%, Ukraine 58%, United States 51%.
