Q. With the economic downturn, do you see any difficulty in placing your students, especially those of HRM & LR programme?

No difficulties seen so far.

On Executive MBA / Doctoral Programmes in Management

Q. These days we are seeing a very high level of interest in Executive MBA as there are lot many people, especially IT professionals, who wish to have an additional degree without leaving their jobs. What kind of Executive MBA programmes or part-time (distance / evening programmes) or Doctoral programmes does TISS, Mumbai offers to corporate executives?

We have an Evening Programme of Diploma of HRM for in-service candidates. A normal requirement is graduation and three years work experience in a supervisory capacity. This programme of TISS is widely acknowledged in the industry both in selections as well as promotion to the higher positions. The School of Management & Labour Studies also offers Doctoral Programme.

Q. What is the batch strength for these programmes?

At present, the batch size for Diploma in HRM is 45 and Ph.D. Programme is 22.

Q. Does the distance program has any class component or is it conducted through correspondence?

We do not have any distance learning programme.

Q. Will you be offering any placements assistance to students of Executive MBA programmes or Doctoral programmes?

We do not have at present any Placement Assistance for Students of Diploma as well as Doctoral Programme.

On Research & Publications (related to M.A. in HRM & LR)

Q. What are the major thrust areas at TISS, Mumbai in management research?

The major thrust of research are - Employability, Diversity Management, Labour Market, Workplace Governance, Employees Engagement, Issues related to Women, Child Labour and Youth, Talent Management, etc.

Q. Are these research works limited to national level or are they of International level, and how do you fund them?

Most of these researches are limited to national level. However, these are bench-marked many a times at international level also.
