What students are saying about Placement 2000 and CoolAvenues?

Gautam Jain: II yr. - (PWC selected)
"Major trend in this year's placement was dotcom companies on the campus. People are very specific about the function and the company they want to join...
CoolAvenues' coverage is excellent, unheard of in the IIMs history, will surely go a long way."

Ajit Kumar: PGP 1: Placement Committee Member
"Placements are excellent, all guys have been placed within 3 days. It's amazing. Major trend this year was entry of VC firms and dot com companies in the campus. The people interested in these companies were very passionate right from the beginning...
CoolAvenues have done a good work, we hope they will keep the good work up. It's a fantastic idea. "

Siddhant Taneja: PGP 1, Member Placement Committee, Summers - HLL
"Superb placements. Best ever in the history of IIMB... The entrepreneurial sprit is in abundance out there on Campus. Courses on entrepreneurship and e-commerce were high on demand and the trend is expected to continue in the coming years...
CoolAvenues is an excellent idea and is very useful and practical. People are generally not aware about many companies. ComBasics are source of information on the many companies out there. CA (CoolAvenues) serves as a ready reference material on corporate... Also, lot of companies don't come to the campus, so you can get their address and other information on the CA site and contact them. People are generally aware about the major recruiters on the campus while other companies are not too well known. So CA is a site with comprehensive information on all the companies apart from the regular visitors to the campus... The Recruitment Insider was helpful to PGP2 students. It helped to prepare mentally what to expect in the interviews. Some students have opted out of the placement and joined Chrysalis outside campus. One PGP2 has opted out of placement and is starting his own venture along with two other friends."

Hurricane shifts gears and strikes at... IIMB.
Placement 2000 season has evolved in a manner reminiscent of a floridan hurricane sweeping across American coastline. Placement 2000 started off strongly at IIML, generated speed at IIMC, shifted gears at IIMB and is heading towards a Well-Known Institute of Management in Western India - as IIMAites call it.

The IIML batch was placed within 2 days. Then the hurricane gathered speed at the eastern coast at IIMC, where again placement week ended much before it usually jump-starts and gathers momentum. The mighty ones were not spared either. Even Gods were shocked by the audacity of IIMC guys ("hats off to you guys!"). Mckinsey guys were dumbstruck and shellshocked when their 3 offers were rejected out of total 8 offered. It's simply unheard off. "This is unfair! This is simply not done," were the last words Mc guys were heard discussing amongst them. And the hurricane further picked up speed of alarming proportions at IIMB. Students and Placecom were bullish on a grand placement, more so after learning about the placements feedback at IIML and IIMC. Was this a case of misplaced confidence?

And the placement 2000 at IIMB campus lived up to the expections on the Day 1 and just exploded on the second day.

CoolAvenues team met students to get an insider feel of what they were thinking. They were pretty confident that placements will never be same again after this placement season. So what is really happening at IIMB? Read on to find all the latest updates...

One of the first people to get placed at IIMB was Vivek Kamani, who joined leading VC firm Chrysalis, which received huge response even though it was recruiting outside campus. Vivek was very much excited about the offer when CA team met him, rightly so since it was his dream company. He says "It was passion and attitude that made the difference".

Live from Campus: Day 1
The thing which has came out strongly was "focus on career choice". Inspite of all the chaos, students were very much focussed on career choice. Rajeev Maheshwari, 24, joined Anderson Consulting, preferring it over the offer by KPMG. Rajeev says "I was very focused on choosing a career in Consulting, that too with a firm specialising in applications. Hence, the advantage of AC". Vivek Kamani's career choice vindicates it.

Live from Campus: Day 2
The companies were P&G, HLL, CP, J&J, Coats, DSP Merril Lynch, ICICI, Citi, Coke, Pepsi, Cambridge Technology Partners among others.

The day belonged, undoubtedly to ICICI, which replicated Channel V's "Line Lagao" programme. It made a mindbogging 30 (27+3) offers for ICICI, ICICI Ventures, ICICI Infotech. It's one rare moment across the globe when a single company picks up 1/6th of the MBA Graduating Class. It's amazing.
