Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay reached another milestone by placing its entire batch in very short time. The batch of 47 people was recruited by 27 companies, giving a total of 59 job offers, which means more than one job per student. Not only that, six companies had to go back because the batch strength had already been exhausted. One of the major success stories this year has been the stark improvement in the number and quality of foreign offers given to the students. Almost a quarter of the batch got foreign placements. Day zero was on January 6th, 2003. The placement process started right from 6 in the morning with companies like Triniti, McKinsey Knowledge Center, GE Capital, ICICI, Birla Management Consultancy, Mahindra Consulting, DHL, Wipro Technologies, Global Trust Bank, Vysya, Godrej, etc., making a beeline for the campus. Triniti Corporation USA made five international offers to the school this time. This was an improvement over the offers made last year, both in terms of number as well as salary. There was a plethora of companies, which wanted to secure the student who seemed suitable to them. There was hence, a spate of spot offers - final placement offers made without even interviewing the candidate. The companies, which gave spot offers included Godrej, DHL and Mahindra Consulting to name a few. Sector-Wise Placements:
