MBA Students at IIT Kanpur Ride High on Campus Placements The air was filled with tension and anxiety, the mood was yet upbeat and as the sun broke to warm up the chilly environs, the tension and anxiety gave way to moments of absolute bliss for the MBA students of 2006 batch at IIT Kanpur. The placement week for the Class of 2006 was scheduled from 17th to 24th December 2005 with confirmed participation from 28 top-notch companies representing the who's who of the corporate world. The sheer number of companies for a batch of 46 students created a flutter among recruiters with each vying for a slice of the pie. The entire batch of 46 students was fully placed within hours on the very first day of the placement week, making a new record. In fact, companies like TCS, WIPRO, ITC, SBI Caps, B&K Securities, Evalueserve... et al had to return empty-handed as there were no more students left to be placed. The recruiters included the who's who of the corporate world. IT, Banking and Consultancy were the flavor of the day with students lapping up offers in these sectors. Recruiters in IT & ITES sector included Accenture, IBM, Infosys, GENPACT among others. Banking sector was represented by Citibank and ICICI Bank. The other companies that made offers include Bristlecone, Vedanta Resources, HCL Tech, e-Serve International and MarketRx.
