SIBM Achieves Record Breaking Placements

At SIBM, the 3rd of January 2006 proved to be a day when the aspirations of each and every student were fulfilled by the stupendous success story of placements. Breaking records is a tradition in SIBM and Campus Recruitment Programme 2006 proved to be no different with benchmarks being raised to unprecedented heights.

The entire batch was placed in matter of few hours, which highlighted the increasing demand in the corporate world for students from SIBM. Recruiters across sectors thronged the campus competing against each other for the 148 students that the institute had to offer this year. The students never had it better in terms of choice with offers averaging to around 1.5 offers per student despite more than 20 companies going back empty handed.

Of the 55 companies that recruited, quite a few were regulars such as ITC Ltd., GSK Consumer Healthcare, J P Morgan, Aditya Birla Group, Marico Ltd., Godrej Industries, Dabur India Ltd., Asian Paints, Essar Group, Intel, IBM, Wipro and Infosys.

Some of the major breakthroughs for this year included Goldman Sachs, KPMG, Standard Charted Bank, ICICI Bank, Nike, Whirlpool of India, Hutch, Cargill, DuPont, Maruti, Hewlett Packard, Cognizant Technology Solutions and HCL Group.

The average compensation reached an all time high of Rs. 7.2 lakhs per annum and median compensation stood at a record Rs. 6.5 lakhs per annum with the international offer being made by Olam International at $85,000 while J P Morgan at Rs. 8.9 Lakhs made the highest domestic offer.

Placements 2006: Sector-Wise Analysis

Banks & Financial Services: This sector witnessed some new recruiters such as ICICI Bank and Standard Chartered Bank. Some of the other prominent recruiters in this sector included Kotak Group, GE Money, ICICI Prudential, and Max New York Life. A total of 45 offers were made, with the highest number of offers being made by Kotak Group at 12 followed by ICICI Bank at 7.
