A significant portion of the batch (around 60%) had been placed or had opted out by the end of the much-coveted Slot Zero of placements. There were only 95 students, out of a total 235, available for interviewing on Slot One.

The highest number of offers was given by Lehman Brothers (17 offers - 14 acceptances), followed by Merrill Lynch (15 offers - 14 acceptances) and McKinsey (13 offers - 12 acceptances).

11 students from IIMA either opted out of placements, or rejected job offers to start their own enterprise. Two of these students rejected Associate offers in excess of Rs. 1 Crore from investment banks to opt for starting off their own venture.

There were 11 Associate offers from investment banks and 12 Associate offers from international consulting firms, 4 of which were made to students without work experience.

The highest international acceptance at IIMA ranged around $ 225,000 and the highest domestic acceptance ranged around Rs. 1 Crore.

IIM Bangalore

IIM Bangalore took initiative this year and decided not to disclose its placement data to media.

A particular highlight of this year's placements at IIM Bangalore was the impressive list of middle-east firms. The campus was swarmed by new overseas recruiters like Arthur D. Little, Al Ghanim Industries, CiC International and Development Bank of Singapore, in addition to regular recruiters like GM Shanghai, McKinsey, British Petroleum, American Express, Citigroup, Procter & Gamble and the Arcelor-Mittal Group.

IIM Calcutta

IIMC maintains its leadership in attracting highest average salary (INR 9.81 Lakhs domestic only) across campuses.

89 students took up Slot 0 offers this time, up from 64 last year.

The highest foreign salary offered to any management student ever on Indian soil went to an IIMCian this year - US$ 250,000. This offer was made to two students by a leading investment bank for their New York desk.

Over a dozen students rejected overseas offers to stay back in India though in the same industries and companies, pointing towards a healthy trend in recruitment at the top B-school. This is mainly due to the booming growth story of India and the surge of the investment banks and consults into Indian soil.

JP Morgan Chase, BNP Paribas, Sun Group (Private Equity) and Optiver recruited exclusively from IIM Calcutta.

The total number of foreign accepted offers reached an all-time high of 58.
