E-Entrepreneurship - The Way Forward

The Entrepreneurship Panel, in association with TiE looked at e-Entrepreneurship and the way forward to foster conscious entrepreneurship globally.

Mr. H. K. Mittal, Advisor, GOI, Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Manoj Mishra, CEO, Gen Next Consultant, Mr. Ranjit Shastri, Co-founder Smart Analyst Inc., Mr. Puneet Bindlish, Co-founder and CEO, Infogile and Dr. Arunaditya Sahay, Professor, Strategic Management, MDI were the guest speakers in this panel. Prof. Rohit Prasad from MDI Gurgaon moderated the proceedings of the panel.

Mr. Mishra began the discussion by advocating e-Entrepreneurship as a way to build and accelerate modern businesses by leveraging technology. He highlighted a wide spectrum of advantages of e-Entrepreneurship ranging from reduction in costs to scalability to global reach and accelerated growth. Carrying the discussion forward, Mr. Bindlish pointed out that technology is a powerful tool to facilitate or enable businesses but cannot be the core competency of any business. He, therefore, emphasized the need to focus on business models and urged all e-Entrepreneurs to treat technology only as an enabler. Panellists were of the view that Internet is all pervasive in businesses today. Therefore, every business is either an e-business or has the potential to transform into one. Mr. Mittal advised all the young minds interested in entrepreneurship to go out in the real world and experiment with entrepreneurial ideas rather than just discussing and learning them within the confines of classroom walls. Prof. Sahay pointed out the role of Management institutes such as MDI to provide a nurturing ground to job-creators of the nation. Mr. Shastri stressed the need of having a great team apart from having great ideas for starting new ventures.

While addressing the students, the esteemed panel of speakers also brought forth the social aspect of e-Businesses. By citing examples of Online banking and traffic police systems, they explained how e-Businesses can play a role in reducing corruption and extending benefits of technology to the bottom of the pyramid.

The Communications Panel, in association with TNS looked into the impact of Social cause marketing campaigns on branding. Mr. Pradeep Saxena, Senior Vice President, TNS, Mr. Rajat Iyer, Head of Saarthak and Mr. Diptakirti Chaudhuri, AVP Marketing of Hindustan Times were the guest speakers in this panel. Prof. Gita Bajaj, Chairperson Corporate Communications, MDI Gurgaon facilitated the discussion.
