1. General Questions

Background

Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications and work-experience?
A. I was born and brought up in a small city, Sultanpur, of Uttar Pradesh, and did all my schooling from there only. Then I went for my B.Tech. from CSA University, Kanpur. After my graduation, I had two options - either to join a job or go for higher studies. I chose later and enrolled for Associate-ship in Information Science from one of the labs of CSIR, Delhi, and simultaneously joined an NGO named "Development Alternatives". I couldn't continue both because of high dissertation work, so quit the job and after completing AIS, joined one of the best IPR Law (Consultancy) firms in India, Anand & Anand, as a Consultant and provided services to Microsoft India full time.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. Once I joined Anand & Anand, I got to interact with various clients and their global representatives and got much exposure of different facets of doing business. It was then that I realized that if I wanted to go ahead, a degree in management would be required. I started preparing for MBA, and I realized that I really like Economics and Finance, and started working hard to get into a good B-school, despite my very demanding job.

Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career in management?
A. MBE from University of Delhi, fits into my long-term career plans, so I decided to go for it. In between, I have got many opportunities to switch the career; for instance, I had 4-5 offers from different banks in hand, but MBE fits best with my plans.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. I had applied for CAT, IRMA, XAT, MBE-DU, GBO, FMS, FMS part-time.

Q. Your present B-school and programme. Also specify your Batch.
A. I am pursuing Two-Year Full-Time Master of Business Economics from Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi.
