General Management Programme (GMP)

The Programme

In order to satisfy this thirst for knowledge and to become a learning organization, XLRI has evolved a one year consolidated programme in general management with the objectives of providing the practicing managers a substantial exposure to theoretical foundations in management as well as to provide them a holistic perspective of business in such a way that they are not only equipped with tools and techniques to perform their task effectively but also to shoulder greater responsibilities in the future as they move up the hierarchy.

Eligibility

The programme has been designed for working executives, who have a Bachelor's degree (minimum of three years full-time study) from a recognized university in any discipline with at least three years of post-degree full-time experience in executive capacity, completed by May 1st 2005.

Admission Process

Each year in August, XLRI invites applications for admission to its various programmes through advertisements in major newspapers and magazines in the country as well as through announcements displayed in major universities and colleges.

Course Content

All courses (compulsory and optional) have been designed for executives with work experience. Tentatively the courses have been divided into Two Modules. Each module consists of two terms and the 30 courses. Term I, II, and III have compulsory courses. Term IV has optional courses from five different fields of management. These are present in the form of packages. In term IV a participant will choose two packages out of five. All courses in a package are compulsory. If required the courses in the optional package can be modified to suit the needs of the participants.

The programme incorporates a group project, which will be initiated in the third term and completed by the end of fourth term. The project will be based on live problems from any organization and involves an important part of the learning process.

Fees

The fees for each participant will be Rs. 2 lakhs. This will include tuition fees and other infrastructural necessities as required for an effective academic programme. For outstation candidates the Institute will provide hostel accommodation. The hostel charges would be separate.
