Track VI: Infrastructure Development: The Key to India’s Success

This track had participation from Sudhir Rangnekar, Chairman, SICAL Logistics, Sanjay Joshi, Lanco, and Y. Harish Chandra Prasad, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Malaxmi Energy & Infra Ventures.

The panel discussed that per capita consumption in India of power is 500 units compared to 7000-10,000 units in the US. The country has to concentrate on power highways in the next decade along with national highways. Speaking on the infrastructure scenario, the panel felt that India should follow the China model and focus on power and infrastructure to compete with China on the GDP growth. The Government should allow sweat equity for the developers, if not it could result in kickbacks. Timing is very important for infrastructure, and support.
