CEO of HUL Inducts Batch of 2010 at JBIMS-Mumbai

Expectations and eagerness filled the air as the 2010 MMS Batch of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) awaited its induction session on August 8, 2008. The auditorium bustled with an enthusiastic lot of 121 students; each one stepping into a new and probably the most important phase of his or her life.

At the promised hour, students of Second Year MMS escorted Dr. Chavan, Director, JBIMS, and Mr. Nitin Paranjpe, CEO of HUL and also an alumnus of the institute. A respectful silence fell over the audience as the breath-taking moments sunk in.

Amid a thundering applause, Prof. Chavan was called upon to address the students. At the outset, he welcomed and congratulated one and all for having secured admission to a premier B-school like JBIMS. He emphasized the growing demand for talented management graduates in industry today. Next, he proudly enlisted the progress witnessed by the institute recently like obtaining UGC approval to start various post graduate courses in areas of retail management, corporate governance, valuations, etc. Dr. Chavan concluded by asking students to leverage on the three pillars of JBIMS, viz., students (peers and seniors), faculty (permanent and visiting), and alumni to make the most of the coming two years.

Mr. Paranjpe then took centre-stage to address the students on the theme 'Success and what it takes to succeed in the real world'. He was at his uninhibited and incisive best.
