Manthan 2008 at TISS-Mumbai Attracts Best Talent from B-schools

6) Dayitva - This CSR event was an event that is at the very heart of TISS. UTV India in association with AC Nielsen came up with the idea of a CSR Plan Contest that will follow the self-sustaining model. Thus, was born Dayitva. The

event though was announced quite late in the course of Manthan roll out, yet the stupendous response surprised even Team Manthan. Entries poured in from FMS-Delhi, IIT-Delhi (DoMS), IIT-Bombay (SJMSOM), SP Jain-Mumbai, MICA-Ahmedabad, NITIE-Mumbai (multiple entries), KJ Somaiyya-Mumbai, and of-course TISS-Mumbai (Social Work Batch). The panel from UTV was itself pleasantly surprised at the quality and enthusiasm of the participants and their CSR Plans.

In the end, it was so difficult to adjudicate that two teams had to be declared joint Winners - TISS-Mumbai (Social Work Batch) and NITIE-Mumbai. Another team from NITIE-Mumbai stood as the first Runners-up. The joint winners were awarded a prize of Rs. 25,000/- and an opportunity to work jointly on a project with UTV India.

7) Paripreksha- The role model talk is invariably the highlight as well as high point of Manthan. This year though the crowd swelled to the seams, for the dignitary was none other than Boman Irani. He picked out anecdotes from his own experiences which were hilarious but none the less insightful. The capacity crowd in the swank TISS Convention Center came out enthralled and inspired.
