Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi Holds 33rd Edition of FMS Annual Convention

The Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi held its Annual Convention 2008 at ITC Sheraton, Delhi. The Convention, which is the flagship event at the Faculty of Management Studies, had some of the biggest names of the industry for its speakers. The overall theme of
the event was 'Indian Leaders in the New Millennium'.

The Guest of Honor, Mr. Tejpreet S. Chopra, President & CEO of GE India, Srilanka & Bangladesh, kick-started the event by underlining the importance of leaders during crises. He emphasized that leaders need to keep their dreams alive despite all problems. Stating that a successful leader is one who keeps learning at each moment, he said that every person has two stories, a personal one and one in which the person contributes towards his/her country.

The morning session had 'Leading the Indian Way' as the topic of discussion. Mr. Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of Exchange4Media Group was the moderator for the same. Prof. Abhijit Sen, Member, Planning Commission of India, gave insights on the myriad aspects of the agricultural sector and its importance to decoupled economies like India and China in the coming years. He stressed that the recent turnaround was because of an increase in yield which was due to the use of advanced technology.

Mr. Santosh Desai, CEO, Future Brands, dwelt on various elements of the main topic. He initiated the discussion by asking the audience if there was an India way of thinking. Opining that if the desire to lead is genuine, a lot of courage is required. He claimed that Indians are very good followers. However, he felt that there is a huge dearth of leadership in the country when there is a massive opportunity to become leaders.
