Q. What advice would you like to give people who might have a good score in your Written Test but not so good academic performance in past?

At present, we are giving weightage of 15% to the past academic performance. However, this is under review of the admission committee. The selection is based upon a combined score of all the components including Written Test (Weightage 35%). There is no cut-off score in academic performance.

Q. What is the Cut-off Score in Written Test that shortlists the student to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview at TISS?

The Cut-off Score in the Written Test was 60% last year to shortlist candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. However, this is under review of admission committee and will be finalized very soon.

Q. What about Group Discussion and Personal Interview, what kind of weightage is given to GD and PI?

The weightage for Group Discussion and Personal Interview for HRM & LR Programme is 15% and 35% respectively. Group Discussion is based on current social and business themes. Candidates are expected to show leadership, analytical skills, communication skills and ability to get along with the group. The Personal Interview tests the profile matching of the candidates for the programme.

Q. How do you evaluate candidates selected for the GD/PI round? Does a candidate's Written Test Score still affect his chances during final admission once he/she is shortlisted for the GD/PI?

Since the selection is based upon performance in all the components of the admission, it is very difficult to comment on this question. However, we have seen a positive correlation amongst all components of the admission on several occasions. Although we cannot take any position on this, but the performance in written test affects chances of final selection to some extent.

Q. What weightage is given to the pre-MBA work-experience?

We do not give any weightage to pre-MBA work experience.

Q. What kind of reservation / quota has been allotted at TISS, Mumbai for various categories? Would any seats be reserved for the Mumbai / Maharashtra candidates?

We have standard reservation provisions as laid down by GOI from time to time. This is currently 15% for SC and 7˝% for ST and 27% (to be rolled out in three years) for OBC category. No seats are reserved for Mumbai or Maharashtra candidates.

On Placements (related to M.A. in HRM & LR)

Q. These days there is huge focus on placements at MBA institutes. Since TISS, Mumbai is renowned institute and also placed very conveniently at a metro like Mumbai, what kind of placement programme you have to attract best companies?

Placements is a student-managed activity at TISS. Administrative support is provided by the institute though. Students form committees which are contacted by organizations. Senior Placements Committee prepares junior students for placements through a preparatory & mentorship program called LAKSHYA.
