The student team presented their research findings in which they observed that the brand-cause fit is very important for the consumer to accept any cause-related campaign.

Then, Mr. Pradeep Saxena said that an SCM campaign is relevant and meaningful for a developed brand. Mr. Diptakirti Chaudhuri further added that it is also important for the cause to resonate with the values of the corporate and are taken up with a long term perspective. The panel discussion was brought to a close by a thought-provoking question to the panellists by the faculty moderator, Prof. Gita Bajaj, who asked them to comment on which according to them is the most important parameter for the campaign to succeed - the cause-consumer resonance, the product-cause resonance or the creative. While two panellists voted for brand-cause resonance, one voted for the final execution.

Competing for Analytics

The Analytics Panel had Citi Group as its knowledge partner. The panel studied the landscape of the analytic functions across different organizations and presented the way the the analytics industry is shaping up. The guest speakers in this panel included eminent personalities like Mr. Ravi Ajmera, CAO, Deutsche Bank, Mr. Namit Sharma, Sr. Vice President, Genpact, Mr. Manoj Piplani, Managing Director & Site President, Citi Group, Mr. Raman Bhushan from Dunnhumby and Mr. Alok Agarwal from Dell Global Analytics.

The student research team presented their findings on the applicability of analytics in fields like credit card industry, retail management, HR evaluation and e-business. It was followed by an intense panel discussion on the advantages of analytics. Everyone agreed that it helps to take better informed decisions, but the challenge lies in talent pool development which can do intellectually creative and demanding work. The future of analytics was discussed then, with the panellists agreeing that a combination of science and business is necessary to do well in a career in analytics. Currently it is a growing field, which is mainly centred on financial services. However, everybody unanimously agreed that the field has wide scope for growth.

Saplings of the Next Economy - The Role of HR in the Upturn

The Human Resources Panel, with Hay Group as its knowledge partner, delved into the challenges faced by HR fraternity in the post-recession era and the interventions it can make during the upturn. The distinguished speakers for this panel included Mr. Aquil Busrai, Executive Director - HR, IBM India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Rajiv Bhatnagar, Director Technical Administration and VP - Strategy and Modernization, Arcelor Mittal, Dr. Bhagwat Yagnik, Head, Global HR, Ranbaxy and Mr. Oscar Demello, Country Head, Hay Group. Prof. Jyotsna Bhatnagar, Chairperson - PGPHR, MDI Gurgaon was the moderator of the panel.
