About the Session: ‘Human Capital Accounting: Out of the Red, into the Blue - HR in the Balance Sheet’

Until recently, the value of an enterprise was measured in terms of its financial and tangible assets.
However, with the growing emergence of the knowledge economy and increasing recognition of human resource as capital, this traditional valuation needs to be revised. We say our people are greatest assets, but can we suggest how much they are worth? Can we objectively asses the value of our human resource and account for it in the balance sheet?

About the Trainers: Mr. S. A. Vinod & Mr. Sunil Maheshwari

After a brief stint with HLL, Mr. Vinod joined Merck Sharpe & Dohme of India, in 1984. The company became Merind and Mr. Vinod was a member of the top management team during the transformation. Since 1989, he has been into the field of consulting.

Prior to joining Tata Management Training Centre as a Senior Consultant in Nov 2003, Mr. Maheshwari has worked with the Wipro Corporation from 1998 to 2003, Gillette India Ltd. from 1996 to 1998 and the RPG group from 1994 to 1996 in various HR roles.

Feedback is that crucial element of the performance cycle that gives it complete meaning and also makes each individual aware of the manner and acceptability of his or her performance The challenge however lies in knowing how to convey the essence in a manner that is non- threatening, sensitive and ensures receptiveness to inputs that are aimed at encouraging the individual and instigating positive change.
