Complete Round-up of VISTA 2006, the Business Fest at IIM Bangalore
Post-event Press-release

Previous

Starting the third day of VISTA off was the 'CAT Workshop'. Conducted by first year students who were in the 100th percentile in CAT 2005, the event was a huge success and drew large crowds of CAT aspirants, eager to pick up some tips from the masters.
This event marked the first time that any IIM students had actively gotten themselves into the act of dispensing advice and help to CAT aspirants for no charge.

Day 3 also featured 'Insight', the Knowledge Consulting Case Contest, presented in association with Inductis, the leading knowledge consulting company in India. The event provided contestants and the audience a ring-side view of the exciting world of Knowledge Consulting and was an educative experience, introducing them to the intellectual challenge and rigor in the consulting industry. The competition received overwhelming response with entries from over 250 teams from top B-schools across the country and abroad, matching their wits to solve a simulated business problem.

Following that, Microsoft, the undisputed leaders in the software industry, anchored the Information Technology focus area. The IT focus area consisted of a game and a workshop, the cutting-edge technology and its influence on various aspects of business, bringing out the importance of IT-enabled management. The event was described by a participant as 'a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for IT employees across India to understand and appreciate the business side of IT'.

Also held during the day were a number of spot events such as 'Bestsellers', the marketing simulation game, where eleven finalists, chosen from Day 2's preliminary rounds, fought it out for supremacy in a simulated FMCG market. Required to come up with innovative branding, sales and distribution strategies for their own brands of shampoo, participants spent three hours deciding on issues such as pricing, segmentation, targeting and positioning of their brands against a computer simulated competitor. IIM Bangalore teams took top honors at the event, winning first and second place.
