Post-event Press-release

Previous

Some interesting manufacturing fundamentals were explored on this day. Mr. G. R. Gangadhar, Director, Forbes Marshall, opened the discussion by explaining a Balanced Scorecard and its various aspects, viz., Finance, Customer, Internal Business
Processes and People in Business. He elaborated the RACI (Responsibility, Accountability, Consult, Information) Matrix, Product and Process Quality Concepts like Six Sigma and DMAIC. Concepts of metricised objectives; customers focus (problem resolution, partnership resolutions) were also touched upon.

The day ended on a highly patriotic note by Mr. Ranjan Nigam, Chief Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. enumerating the changing scenarios and opportunities available for young Indians today, which they should harness and use for the inclusive growth of the Indian economy.

The Second Day was all about entrepreneurship, inclusive economic growth and striking the correct balance between business and environment. Some prominent names of the day were Mr. Rajnikant Patel, Ex-Managing Director & CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange, Mr. Muralidhar Rao, President & COO, NIS Sparta, Mr. M. S. Unnikrishnana, Managing Director, Thermax India, Dr. Ram Babu, Managing Director, CantorCO2e, India.

Illustrations from cricket, Mahabharata, Arthashastra and Bollywood were predominantly used as metaphors to explain the nuances of strategic fore-sight on leadership. Speed, simplicity and confidence were highlighted as the three important qualities of an entrepreneur to be successful. A rapidly growing market, a low existing base of business activity, a global level playing field, and availability of talented manpower were cited as opportunities that lay ahead of India in the 21st century. The ability to foresee opportunities, transforming the management style with the changing pace of the world, shorter product cycle, and continuous innovation were showcased as the biggest challenges for business houses today.

Mr. Prabhat Pani, Chief Executive Officer, Ginger Hotels, Roots Corporation Limited, gave a brilliant revelation on the evolution of the concept of Ginger Hotels along with the "Add-Reduce-Eliminate-Enhance" Model used to develop Ginger Hotels. The speakers delved deep into the use of natural resources, reusability, recycling and disposal methods, and implementation of environment safety norms in business. The speakers were unanimous regarding the fact that there is no political or geographical boundary when it comes to pollution and the environment.
