  3. Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise
  4. Interview-related Questions
  5. After Joining MBA

4. Interview-related Questions

Q. How did you prepare for the interview?
A. I had started brushing up my General Knowledge and reading a book on GD. However, most important part of Group Discussion preparation was to meet "Malay Sir". I am really thankful to him for his suggestions and support without which I couldn't have cleared the GDs and Interviews. He fine-tuned the answers of general questions for me.

Q. How many interview calls did you get and from which institutes? How many and which ones of these could you actually convert to a Final Call?
A. I got calls from MBE-DU, XIM-B, FMS-PT, NIT and GBO-SRCC. I converted all except XIM-B.

Q. Date and location of Interview? Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or re-scheduled couple of times? Was the interview venue changed or scheduled as per your convenience?
A. NO, the interview was scheduled in the last week of March 2008 and the venue was DU's South Campus. The date and venue were fixed.

Q. Can you tell us about the panel that interviewed you?
A. There were 6 panelists in the interview board. These were permanent faculty of the department, alumni of the department, and also a stream specialist from a separate department of the University.

Q. How long was your interview?
A. It lasted for around 25 minutes.

Q. What kind of questions were you asked? Were they specific to any particular area?
A. I was grilled on work experience related queries and more quizzed on general question (HR).

Q. What was the first question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
A. To highlight few points regarding the interview, I was quizzed on why I want to quit the job and why MBE? Also one of the toughest things I had to do was explaining to them about my complex consultancy job in Microsoft.

Q. While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel prepared?
A. Yes, that was my source of confidence - being the last interview of the season, the preparation was already complete enough. I was thorough with the current budget and academics.

Q. Write a brief about your Interview experience.
A. I was last to be interviewed in my group. The panel had six members, three permanent faculty, two alumni, and one subject specialist. The interview started off from the usual 'introduce yourself' and then it went on to my work experience and extra-curricular activities. After that, it came into personal questioning and answering few things from the application. Had to defend the reason of joining MBE as written in my application form.

Q. Was any feedback given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of session?
A. No feedback was given, In fact one of the panelists interrupted me inbetween and politely asked me to leave with thanks.

Q. How would you rate your performance in the Interview? (On a scale of 10)
A. My personal rating of that interview was 6 out of 10.

Q. Areas where you could have performed better in your interview?
A. When I was grilled on work experience related querry, I could have convinced them in better way. Also the part why should we select you, could have been answered in a better way.

Q. Give some handy tips regarding interview that would be of great help to MBA aspirants.
A. The most Important thing that an aspirant must keep in mind is that the more you know yourself, the better you are in terms of confidence and poise. Another thing is the academic part, and again the best possible suggestion could be that be thorough with 3 subjects at least. The interview is all about taking your case to the panel confidently.
As mentioned before - believe in yourself, prepare hard because from there only you would get that self-believe, be it personal or professional know thyself approach is a must. Also, read newspapers a lot and the important international news as well.

Contd.   5. After Joining MBA
